Many of you have asked me to write this blog so you can follow me starting around end of January / beginning of February and hopefully also encourage me on my uphill battle as I am quite sure this adventure is not going to an easy one. There will be cell phone coverage on the mountain, which will give me the opportunity to update my blog daily and provide you with some hopefully nice pictures and a daily progress . There is however still more than five months before we head out on the journey to reach the highest peak on the African continent, Mt. Kilimanjaro.
The wise people say it is not about the destination, but the journey and I truly believe so. The journey itself will both be physical and mentally a challenge not only due to the rapid changing in the environment but also due to, and properly the most, at least for me, unknown part - the altitude sickness.
The trip to Tanzania will start on approximately 1 February where we will spend some days camping on the Serengeti followed by days in an orphanage in Moshi area, then a day to rest and mentally prepare for the climb up the mountain. We should be back down at base on the 19 February where we will spent two days recovering before we head on a 48 hr train ride to Victoria falls.
It has not yet been decided yet where the trip will end, but I will keep this blog updated along the way and please feel free to add a comment - all you have to do is just click on the comment line in the bottom of each chapter and click on the drop box as well.
