Arrived Moshi

We arrived to Kilimanjaro airport on time fully dressed to the cold climate we experienced in Amsterdam. We stepped outside to the temperature of 29 degrees Celsius - late evening hours. Our luggage arrived, visa issued and we were met by the Kilimanjaro guides who took us on a 45 min. bumpy drive in the dark to our hotel in Moshi. After a full inspection of our room for roaches, snakes and spiders we finally crashed under our forest green mosquito nets.

The next morning we woke up kind of late to the sound of various other climbers who were all getting ready to begin their journey to Africa highest peak. The weather was kind of cloudy, temperature in the late twenties and Mt Kilimanjaro standing tall and bigger than life.

It was a slow morning with a light breakfast, arranging laundry and a trip down town to Moshi – and do not let the word down town fool you. It was dusty, poor and we had a trail of unexpected locals joining us through various markets and sites. And by the way I have now turned into a 100 % vegetarian after being exposed to the local way of handling meat as witnessed in the market today. It was an experience one would not easily forget and a true picture of the East Africa’s culture. A few hours later the educational experience was enough and we happily returned to the hotel for well-deserved swim in the pool and decided to stay stay here at  Springland until the 2 Feb when we will venture out towards West and the wild life on the Serengeti.

Our hotel has all the necessary facilities and the staff seem extremely friendly and chatty and after we figured out the switch for the water heater life just seems so perfect.

Tomorrow we are planning to visit the Armani children center and prepare for our journey on the Serengeti.

We are all good, happy, healthy and in good spirit and wake up very morning to a brand new day full of sunshine and more adventures.

  1. Hej Søs. Det var godt at høre fra jer. Så du skal ikke have kød mere - heller ikke frikadeller og leverpostej :-)
