We have not made any final plans for the 10 days we have in Tanzania prior to the start of the climb. We will decide when we get there, but definitely a Safari adventure on the Serengeti and the Armani Orphanage, where we already have scheduled our coming for Feb 1 2011. Will keep you all posted with our whereabouts and upload pictures as the days go by.
On Feb 11 2011 we should however be back at the hotel for preparation and the following day all (5) five climbers will meet for an introduction and commence the drive to the Londorossi gate where the ascent to 19,341 ft will commence. There will be a total of 24 persons on the climb and with only five climbers the remaining 19 persons are guides, porters and cooks. The itinerary up the mountain will be via the Lemosho route and it is said to be the longest of all the climbs. We opted for the longer one in order to better cope with the altitude. The updated itinerary for the climb is posted elsewhere in the blog.
Feb 18 2011 is the day when we hope to be standing on the highest peak on the African continent and watching the sunrise!

On the 20 Feb. 2011 we will head out on an 8-hour bus ride to Dar es Salaam where we will catch the weekly 48-hour train to Livingstone in Zambia. We will make a short stop there and then continue to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe where we will stay until our departure there takes us via Johannesburg back to Europe on March 4 2011.
More later….
